Olympique Marseille Imposes Strict Training Regime After Lorient Defeat
Olympique Marseille's management has decided to significantly intensify the first team's training program following their two-goal defeat to Lorient in the French Ligue 1. This decisive action comes as the team strives to improve its standing and keep alive its hopes of securing a UEFA Champions League qualification spot, with only four rounds remaining in the current season.
The revised program included the cancellation of the usual rest day, with players undergoing a training session on Monday. This will be followed by double training sessions on both Tuesday and Wednesday, with two periods each day. This measure aims to enhance the squad's technical and physical readiness ahead of their anticipated clash against Nice next Sunday at the Stade Vélodrome, particularly after the team's recent performance at the Stade du Moustoir. The squad is determined to improve their image under the guidance of coach Habib Beye.
The management has also mandated that players stay overnight at the club's "La Commanderie" training center for three full nights, starting next Thursday, to foster discipline and concentration before the upcoming match. In this context, Mehdi Benatia, Olympique Marseille's Director of Football, stated, "It's shameful; we will spend a little more time together." Through this decision, the management aims to address the deficiencies observed in recent matches and secure the team's future in continental competitions.
