Napoli President: "I Made a Mistake Listening to Conte and Not Selling Kvaratskhelia and Osimhen for €200 Million"
Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has expressed regret over his decision not to sell star players Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia together in the summer of 2024, a choice influenced by the advice of then-new coach Antonio Conte.
Speaking to The Athletic, De Laurentiis revealed that the club had received an offer of €200 million from Paris Saint-Germain and other clubs for both players, but he rejected it after consulting with Conte.
The president stated: "When we started working with Conte, we received an offer of €200 million from Paris Saint-Germain and other clubs to sell Osimhen and Kvara together. Conte said: 'You can sell Osimhen, but definitely not Kvara.' That was a huge mistake."
He added: "At that time, I had problems with Kvara's father and his agent. In the world of football, an agent is like a real vampire who drains everyone's money."
Despite rejecting the initial offer, Georgian player Kvaratskhelia was eventually sold for €70 million in January 2025, while Osimhen officially moved to Galatasaray in the summer of 2025 for €75 million. This meant the club ultimately lost €55 million.
