
Former France Goalkeeper Barthez Victim of €2 Million Scam
French media reports revealed on Tuesday the involvement of Jérôme Ducros, former president of Luzenac club, in a massive financial fraud case affecting several football personalities, including former France national team goalkeeper, Fabien Barthez.
According to La Dépêche du Midi newspaper, Ducros faces accusations of fraud and misuse of company funds in a case with a total value exceeding €8 million, sought by numerous victims.
Barthez is considered one of the most prominent victims, demanding the recovery of approximately €2 million after falling victim to the scam, which has shaken the French sports community.
The 1998 World Cup winner was not the only one affected, as the list also included well-known players such as Algerian brothers Saphir and Nabil Taïder, indicating the widening scope of this scandal.
In a rapid development, the main suspect has been placed in police custody by judicial police in Toulouse, pending the completion of investigations and the full revelation of the circumstances of this case, which could lead to severe legal repercussions.
