French Federation President Settles Debate on Deschamps' Successor Until World Cup End
Philippe Diallo, President of the French Football Federation, announced on Tuesday that he would cease commenting on the identity of the next coach for the French national team. Diallo indicated that discussions on this matter would be fully postponed until after the 2026 World Cup finals, aiming to provide an atmosphere of calm and focus for the national team before the anticipated global tournament begins.
This decision follows previous statements made by the Federation president on March 22, in which he hinted at knowing the identity of the next coach. Those remarks had fueled speculation about Zinedine Zidane potentially taking over from current coach Didier Deschamps.
In this context, Philippe Diallo clarified: "I will not speak further about the matter of the national coach." He affirmed his desire to temporarily close this chapter to avoid any media distraction for the coaching staff and players before competing in the World Cup.
Didier Deschamps declined to comment on the Federation president's statements. The French coach has led the national team for fourteen years, marking one of the longest coaching tenures in the team's history.
