Court of Appeal Postpones Hearing for Senegalese Fans, Prosecution Rejects Defense's Request to Summon Motsepe
The defense team for the Senegalese fans detained following the riots at the Africa Cup of Nations final requested the Rabat Court of Appeal to summon Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), for questioning in his capacity as the official responsible for the competition's organizing body.
This request was among several petitions submitted by the defense during Monday's session, including a demand to present the videos relied upon by judicial police to verify the extent of each fan's involvement in the charges brought against them and for which they were initially convicted.
In response, the Public Prosecution representative rejected the requests made by the Senegalese fans' defense, citing the futility of presenting the videos and stating that hearing Motsepe would not add anything to the trial.
The Court of Appeal subsequently decided to postpone the hearing of the case once again, without specifying an exact date for the next session.
