"Morocco to Top Group": Carragher Reveals Predictions for Atlas Lions' 2026 World Cup Journey
Former England international Jamie Carragher shared his predictions for the teams' paths in the 2026 World Cup during an appearance on a "Telegraph" channel program, dedicating a significant portion of his analysis to the Moroccan national team.
Carragher affirmed that he sees clarity in the identity of the teams that will qualify from the group stage, noting that the primary battle for the top spot in Group C will be between Morocco and Brazil.
In this context, he explained that the Brazilian national team appears to be a "perennial favorite," adding that their long absence from winning a title makes them "close to a strong return," according to him. However, he then confirmed his choice for the Moroccan national team to secure the top spot in the group, ahead of Brazil, while predicting Scotland to finish third.
Regarding the knockout stages, Carragher predicted that Morocco would face Japan in the Round of 32, expecting the "Atlas Lions" to qualify before successfully continuing their journey against Ecuador in the Round of 16.
However, according to his predictions, Morocco's journey would end in the quarter-finals, as he tipped the English national team to overcome Morocco and reach the semi-finals.
As for the final, Carragher predicted an all-European clash between France and Portugal.
