Berraf: Infantino Visited Algeria for Tebboune's Directives, I Warned Him of CAF Intrigues Pre-Morocco-Senegal Dispute
Mustapha Berraf, President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), stated that FIFA President Gianni Infantino visited Algeria to receive instructions and recommendations from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to counter what he called "maneuvers and conspiracies within CAF."
Morocco's presence, as usual, resurfaced in the minds of Algerian officials, after Berraf, who also serves as a member of the International Olympic Committee, referred to what happened in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final and the CAF Appeals Committee's decision to "vindicate" the Moroccan team, deeming them 3-0 winners over their "withdrawn" Senegalese counterparts.
Speaking to Algeria's Ennahar TV, Berraf said: "Infantino came to Algeria to meet Tebboune and did not come for any other purpose."
He added: "He came to receive instructions and recommendations from the President of the Republic, as you know he has a special love and attention for football."
He continued: "I alerted Infantino to the maneuvers and conspiracies within CAF, even before the Morocco-Senegal issue occurred."
He concluded by stating: "Conditions will be very difficult for all sports in Africa, and that is why Infantino had to come to meet the President of the Republic."
