
Hakimi: 'This Season Hasn't Been Easy, Especially After My Injury; Enrique Changed How the Football World Sees Me'
Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco international Achraf Hakimi has expressed confidence in his innocence regarding the rape allegations against him, stating that he is leaving the matter in the hands of justice and his lawyers. Hakimi also acknowledged the difficulties of the current season following his injury, noting that his coach, Luis Enrique, has contributed to changing how the football world views him and to developing his performance.
During a press conference, Hakimi stated: "I know these accusations are false, and I am calm and focused on what is to come. I am leaving this case in the hands of justice and my lawyers."
On the sporting front, Hakimi expressed satisfaction with his recent performances, despite the challenges he has faced this season, particularly after sustaining an injury. Hakimi stated: "It hasn't been an easy season for me, especially after my injury. I had to return quickly to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations. It was a very difficult injury, but now I feel good, and I am very happy with the level I am currently performing at."
The Moroccan full-back also praised his Spanish coach, Luis Enrique, highlighting the role he played in developing his game and changing how the football world perceives him. The Morocco international said: "I don't know if he (Enrique) changed my career, but he changed how the football world sees me and Nuno Mendes, especially through his use of full-backs."
He affirmed that the coach's approach has had a clear impact on his performance and that of his teammate Nuno Mendes, adding: "He showed us a different way to play football, and this is evident in my performance and also in Nuno's."
Hakimi concluded by emphasizing his desire to continue working hard and delivering his best performances on the pitch, both for his club and the national team.
