Fabregas Committed to Como Project, Rules Out Arsenal Move
Cesc Fabregas, head coach of Como 1907, has dismissed the possibility of leaving the club at present, describing the idea of departing as "very difficult" due to his strong connection to the sporting project and the city. The Spanish coach's statements came on Monday on the sidelines of receiving the "Enzo Bearzot" award in Rome, where he expressed his deep happiness with the team and his desire to continue within the club's structure.
Fabregas denied media reports linking him to potentially succeeding Mikel Arteta as manager of English club Arsenal, emphasizing his complete focus on his current team. Fabregas stated, "I am very attached to this project, to this city, and to everything we are currently doing, and it is impossible to think about the future at this time. I am very happy and I hope that the club and Como fans will continue to be satisfied with my work so that we can continue together for a long time." The coach also noted that the world of football is unpredictable, but he believes that starting to think about "tomorrow" may not be a good indicator for focusing on the current task.
In the same context, the former Spanish star ruled out taking charge of the Italian national team at present, confirming his preference for stability with his team in the Italian league. Fabregas said, "Honestly, I see my departure from the club as difficult, and although one never knows what might happen, I hope to stay here in Como. When one starts thinking about tomorrow, it's not good."
Fabregas is the first Spanish coach to win the "Enzo Bearzot" award for best coach of the year, after Como 1907, under his leadership, transformed into one of Italian football's biggest surprises, competing for Champions League spots and reaching the Coppa Italia semi-finals. Fabregas had joined the club as a player in July 2022, before taking over the team's technical duties two years later.
