Tuchel Confirms Arsenal Duo Rice and Saka Withdraw from England Camp
England national team coach Thomas Tuchel confirmed that Arsenal duo Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka would not participate in the current international break due to injury concerns.
The decision followed medical assessments that revealed both players were experiencing physical discomfort. This prompted the technical and medical staff to withdraw them from the camp to prevent their conditions from worsening, especially given the busy schedule awaiting their London club.
Tuchel explained that medical examinations showed the players were not fit to participate in international matches, noting that risking their involvement would have led to negative outcomes. The coach stated: "They were clearly experiencing discomfort during the medical assessment, so there was no point in them staying."
This absence comes at a critical time for Arsenal, who are competing on three different fronts and aiming to win the Premier League title for the first time in 22 years. The London club is set to begin an intensive April schedule with an FA Cup quarter-final clash against Southampton, followed by the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Sporting Lisbon, making the readiness of key players like Rice and Saka a top priority for coach Mikel Arteta.
The international squad saw 10 Arsenal players absent last week, either by not joining initially or by leaving camps early due to various physical issues.
Arsenal currently leads the Premier League table by 9 points over Manchester City, with 7 matches remaining in the competition. Meanwhile, Rice and Saka remain fundamental players expected to feature in England's squad for the upcoming World Cup finals.
