Arsenal Monitoring Celta Vigo's Oscar Mingueza for Potential Free Transfer
Media reports, citing BBC, indicate that English club Arsenal has expressed interest in signing Spanish defender Oscar Mingueza from Celta Vigo, as his current contract is set to expire next June. The 26-year-old's technical abilities and tactical flexibility, particularly his proficiency at both right-back and left-back, have earned him special appreciation from Mikel Arteta's coaching staff at the London club.
Amid these reports, uncertainty surrounds the Spanish defender's future, with his departure from Celta Vigo at the end of the current season appearing increasingly likely. Marco Garcés, Celta Vigo's sporting director, confirmed that the club has submitted a formal offer to the player but has not yet received a response. Garcés stated: "The situation is currently pending. He knows he has an offer from us, and we hope he makes a decision, but he hasn't responded yet," which opens the door for his imminent departure from the team.
Adding complexity to the situation, Barcelona holds a clause entitling them to 50% of any future sale value of the player. While Arsenal seeks to bolster its defense, building on the success of its previous dealings from the Spanish league, such as Martin Zubimendi and Cristhian Mosquera, Liverpool continues to monitor Mingueza, who recently parted ways with his agent. Italian club Juventus had also previously shown interest in the player's services.
