Sevilla President Refuses to Surrender, Condemns Verbal Attacks Against Team
Sevilla FC President José María del Nido Carrasco has emphasized the club's need to maintain a spirit of resilience and never surrender, especially given the team's current difficult situation in the Spanish league. The Andalusian club president's statements highlighted the ongoing challenges, explaining that this phase requires increased focus to secure the team's position and correct its course as quickly as possible.
Amid a decline in results that saw the team enter the relegation zone following Elche's victory over Valencia, Del Nido Carrasco stressed the importance of collective effort to save the season and overcome the current crisis. Del Nido Carrasco stated, “We are Sevilla FC, and now more than ever, we must recall our motto that we cannot surrender. We must stand with the team to save the season,” indicating that this spirit is the only way to break free from the vicious cycle of negative results.
The club president also condemned the verbal attacks directed at players and management after returning from the match against Oviedo, asserting that fan anger over results does not justify behavioral excesses or personal insults. The Spanish official remarked in this context, “The defeat in Oviedo hurt us deeply, but we must distinguish between fan dissatisfaction with sporting results and verbal attacks against those who form the Sevilla system; these are actions that can never be normalized.”
Del Nido Carrasco also touched upon the club's administrative matters, clarifying that any changes to the board of directors' structure would not be discussed unless a final deal for the club's sale is concluded. These statements come ahead of the anticipated match against Atlético Madrid, with the club hoping these messages will help unite the ranks and alleviate pressure on the players at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán stadium.
