Spain Deploys 394 Police Officers for Sevilla vs. Real Betis Derby at La Cartuja
Spanish authorities have announced the deployment of 394 National Police officers to ensure the security of the derby match between Real Betis and Sevilla, which will be hosted at the La Cartuja stadium next Sunday in La Liga.
This extensive security operation follows a coordination meeting chaired by Francisco Toscano, the Deputy Government Delegate in Seville. The fixture has been classified as a high-risk event due to its significance and the fact that it marks the first derby to be played at this historic stadium.
As part of the preparations for this encounter, ten operational units, including intervention, prevention, and response teams, will be involved simultaneously with the match, which is part of La Liga's 26th round. Francisco Toscano explained that the security apparatus will rely on the presence of 394 National Police agents in a deployment designed to address the high-risk nature of the match and the exceptional stadium scenario. He added, "This match represents the first derby to be held at La Cartuja, which gives the event special attention and necessitates essential security updates." This situation has prompted early coordination among all relevant parties to prevent any incidents.
