Sevilla Coach Criticizes Refereeing After Loss, Demands Opponent's Red Card
Sevilla coach Luis Garcia Plaza criticized the refereeing performance following his team's one-nil defeat to Real Oviedo in La Liga.
During his post-match assessment, Garcia Plaza highlighted a violent tackle on player Djibril Sow's ankle, stating that the incident warranted a direct red card for the opposing player. The challenge resulted in severe swelling to Sow's ankle, forcing him to leave the field and be replaced.
Luis Garcia Plaza said: "For me, there was a stomp on Sow's ankle that deserved a red card. His ankle is very swollen, and I had to substitute him." The coach also expressed his surprise at VAR's failure to review the incident, noting a potential penalty for Nemanja Gudelj that was not awarded in the first half.
Sevilla was forced to complete the match with ten players for 55 minutes. The head coach concluded by expressing his astonishment that only three minutes of added time were awarded, given the events that occurred during the game.
