Spalletti Outlines Ideal Juventus Striker Profile, Identifies Lewandowski and Kolo Muani as Key Targets
Luciano Spalletti, Juventus coach, has revealed his determined pursuit of a new pure striker for the team, five months after taking charge of the Italian club. This move comes as part of the search for a suitable replacement to compensate for the long absence of striker Dusan Vlahovic due to injury. Spalletti aims to secure the future of the attack with specific technical characteristics that ensure continuous goal-scoring effectiveness.
Spalletti outlined the desired striker's identity by focusing on two key attributes: ferocity in duels and clinical finishing in front of goal. He indicated the team's need for a player possessing the necessary physical and mental strength.
In this regard, reports suggest that the Italian coach tested Jonathan David and Loïs Openda before deciding to exclude them from his considerations for this role. Meanwhile, the club's management has placed Randal Kolo Muani and Robert Lewandowski at the top of the reinforcement list required to strengthen the attacking line next summer.
Spalletti criticized the performance of some players in dealing with crucial balls inside the penalty area. He stated, “The striker sometimes lacks the spark inside the box; space must be snatched from opponents with force.”
The coach added, speaking about the necessity of decisiveness, “When a ball arises that can decide the match, it must be pounced upon with strength to finish the job. We lack sharpness in those moments.”
He also noted that some players need more experience to enhance their determination and seize crucial balls that serve the team's interest and aid in quick attacking transitions.
Juventus is expected to undergo significant changes in its squad, with predictions indicating the club's intention to release at least two players from the current attacking line by the end of the season to make way for new names.
