Wydad: Players Hope for Comeback Under Carteron After Benhachem's Exclusions
A number of players at Wydad Athletic are eagerly awaiting a new opportunity to prove themselves, following the appointment of French coach Patrice Carteron as the successor to former coach Amine Benhachem, amidst anticipated changes in squad selections.
Benhachem had previously decided to exclude several players for technical reasons, despite their regular participation in training sessions. This decision had raised questions within the team's circles regarding its motives.
Among the players hoping to return to the forefront are Dutch defender Bart Meijers, Brazilian Ferreira, midfielder Hamza As-Sakhi – who has been absent from matches for unclear reasons – as well as Brazilian Arthur and striker Zouhair El Moutaraji.
Patrice Carteron oversaw his second training session with the 'Red Team' on Thursday, as part of preparations for upcoming competitions. The next phase is expected to involve a comprehensive re-evaluation of the players' performance.
The postponed match against Fath Union Sport (FUS Rabat), from the tenth round of the Botola Pro 'Inwi', is expected to be the French coach's first official test at the helm of Wydad. Through this match, the team hopes to regain its balance and achieve a fresh start.
