CAF Statement
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has resolved the controversy surrounding the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final. Its Appeals Committee decided to declare the Senegal national team defeated by withdrawal, awarding a 3-0 victory to the Moroccan national team.
This decision followed an appeal lodged by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation. The Appeals Committee deemed Senegal's conduct to be in violation of Articles 82 and 84 of the competition regulations, thus justifying their declaration of forfeiture in the final match.
The committee announced that it had accepted the Federation's appeal both in form and substance, overturning the previous decision by the Disciplinary Committee. It confirmed that the protest submitted by the Federation was well-founded. Consequently, Senegal's national team was deemed to have lost 3-0, and the title was officially awarded to Morocco.
