Flick: "I'm Not Thinking of Going Anywhere Else... Barcelona Will Be the Last Club in My Career"
Coach Hansi Flick affirmed that he would not manage any team other than Barcelona, ahead of their Champions League round of 16 second-leg clash against Newcastle. The match is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, at 17:45 GMT, at Spotify Camp Nou.
Flick refrained from disclosing any details regarding his contract renewal with Barcelona, despite previous statements by Joan Laporta to "Catalunya Radio," where the president confirmed the sporting directorate's intention to extend the coach's contract until 2028.
During the pre-match press conference, Flick stated: "This is not the right time. We have a very important match. I need to speak with my family, and we have ample time to discuss the matter, but now is not the moment. It's clear that I love working here very much, and I have everyone's support, but this is football."
He continued: "I always try to give my all to achieve the highest level, and we will see what happens. I'm not thinking of going anywhere else; Barcelona will be my last club."
Despite the significance of the upcoming match, news surrounding the Catalan club extends beyond the pitch. Spanish newspaper "Sport" revealed that a meeting took place between coach Hansi Flick and his agent to discuss his anticipated contract renewal with Barcelona.
This meeting follows the conclusion of the electoral process, which saw Joan Laporta emerge victorious, securing his position as club president for the next five years.
