Joan Laporta Announces Imminent Hansi Flick Contract Renewal with Barcelona Until 2028
Joan Laporta, president of Spanish club Barcelona, has revealed that the official announcement of coach Hansi Flick's contract renewal is imminent. Speaking in an interview with RAC1 radio, Laporta confirmed that an agreement is close to ensuring the German tactician's continuity in his role for the foreseeable future.
The Catalan club's president indicated that the current board of directors possesses the legal authority to renew Flick's contract, with plans to extend it until 2028. The proposal includes an option for an additional season for each contractual year, a step that has received Flick's approval, as he expressed his desire to continue his journey with the team.
During discussions that involved both Yuste and Deco, Joan Laporta stated, "The current board can renew Flick's contract, and we want to extend it until 2028 with the idea that each season has a specific margin, and he supports that. We will announce the agreement soon because he feels very comfortable." He further explained that the harmony between the coach and the sporting management has been a crucial factor in reaching this stage of agreement.
These developments come just over 24 hours after Laporta's victory in the elections and prior to him officially assuming his duties on July 1st. This aligns with aspirations to secure the retention of key team players and sporting officials, including Deco, Robert Lewandowski, and Marcus Rashford, to ensure the stability of the Catalan club in the coming seasons.
