Allegri Sets 70-Point Target, Says Five Wins Needed for Champions League Qualification
Massimiliano Allegri, the team's coach, has outlined the immediate objectives for the upcoming period, emphasizing the necessity of securing five additional victories to guarantee a top-four finish in Serie A and ensure participation in the UEFA Champions League. Allegri clarified that reaching 70 points is the team's direct goal at present, noting that the current tally of 60 points is insufficient for either continental qualification or challenging for the Scudetto title.
Massimiliano Allegri stated regarding the club's aspirations, “It’s not about trying to win the Scudetto; 60 points are not enough to do anything, neither in the Champions League nor in the title race.” The coach added that the squad must exert more effort to overcome the current phase, explaining that the next target is to reach 70 points. He stressed that securing one of the top four positions definitively requires winning five more matches.
In a related context, Allegri acknowledged Inter Milan's superiority in Serie A this season, pointing out that their rivals hold a clear seven-point advantage and have proven themselves to be the best team in the competition so far. Regarding team selection, French midfielder Adrien Rabiot is confirmed to miss the upcoming match, and player Jimenez will also not be included in the squad for the game.
The team's training sessions saw a special visit from Ukrainian star Andriy Shevchenko, as the technical staff focuses on increasing the current points tally of 60, a figure Allegri considers insufficient to achieve the club's continental or domestic ambitions.
