Villarreal Defender Kambouala Returns After Seven-Month Injury Layoff
Villarreal defender Willy Kambwala has received official medical clearance to return to action, ending a lengthy absence of over seven months due to a severe hamstring injury. The 21-year-old's return is set to bolster the team's defensive options. Kambwala underwent surgery last summer after sustaining the injury during a pre-season friendly against Italian side Genoa.
The young defender's recovery period lasted longer than initially anticipated. However, he has been participating in full team training with his teammates for over a month to regain his physical fitness. With his full recovery, Kambwala's inclusion in the squad traveling to Vitoria to face Deportivo Alavés is not ruled out, as the coaching staff looks forward to utilizing his services again in La Liga competition.
Kambwala joined Villarreal last season from English club Manchester United and featured in 21 matches during his debut season before the injury sidelined him. His return is expected to alleviate the defensive woes of the Spanish club, which is currently without the services of Logan Costa and Juan Foyth, both also out due to injury.
