Flick, Barcelona Coach: "Our Style of Play Allows Opponents Many Chances"
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick spoke about his team's 1-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao on Saturday, a match played as part of La Liga's 27th round. He praised his players' performance and their ability to secure three points at a difficult venue.
The German coach stated after the match: "Winning in Bilbao is not easy. We had to manage the minutes after Tuesday's game. It's good that we kept a clean sheet and secured the three points."
Regarding the importance of keeping a clean sheet, Flick said: "When we play our usual style, we sometimes give the opponent many chances. No matter how advanced we are in defence, keeping a clean sheet is always good. I say the same thing I said last season: now we have one less game and three additional points."
Concerning Lamine Yamal, who scored the winning goal, Flick commented: "I don't think Lamine had his best game today, but he decided it… When he gets space, he can make a difference. He trains for these types of shots that can decide a match."
It is worth noting that Barcelona will visit English side Newcastle United next Tuesday for the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.
