Borussia Dortmund Announces Julian Brandt's Departure at Season's End
Borussia Dortmund Sporting Director Lars Ricken announced on Saturday the official departure of midfielder Julian Brandt from the club at the conclusion of the current sports season. This decision follows a mutual agreement not to renew his contract, which is set to expire on June 30. Ricken described this as a step that provides both the club and the player a genuine opportunity to re-evaluate professional priorities and pursue new paths in the near future.
Ricken clarified in his statements that the decision was made in an atmosphere of complete transparency, following a series of open discussions between both parties. Ricken stated, "There were clear conversations, and everyone agreed not to extend the expiring contract."
Brandt joined the German club in 2019 from Bayer Leverkusen. Over his years with the team, he successfully scored 56 goals in 298 appearances across all competitions.
