Italian side Atalanta secured a thrilling 4-1 victory over German giants Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday evening in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League playoff. The win saw the Italian team advance to the round of 16 with a 4-3 aggregate score over the two legs.

The home side maintained their high pressure, which resulted in a second goal before halftime, scored by Davide Zappacosta in the 45th minute.
In the second half, Atalanta did not relent, continuing their attacking surge and adding a third goal in the 57th minute through Mario Pasalic. Karim Adeyemi then pulled one back for the visitors in the 75th minute, leveling the aggregate score.
However, in injury time, Atalanta crushed Dortmund's hopes and prevented the match from going into extra time when Lazar Samardzic scored the fourth goal from a penalty in the 90+8th minute.
