Wahbi: "The only contract that holds value for me is the moral contract that binds me to Morocco, and I am a person who focuses on projects and loves to build."
During his introductory press conference, the new head coach of the Moroccan national team, Mohamed Wahbi, emphasized that the most significant bond he shares with his current role is a moral contract with Morocco. He stated that his priority is to continue building upon the team's previous achievements rather than implementing a radical revolution or sudden changes.
Wahbi stated, "I am a person who focuses on projects and knows how to build for the long term. I spent 17 years at Anderlecht and have been serving as a national coach for five years, so I know how to continue and build work with humility and diligence."
He added, "My objectives are clear: to continue developing the national team, leverage past achievements, and build on strong foundations. We have enough time to work, and we will strive to make the team competitive at the international level."
Wahbi clarified that consistent performance and commitment to teamwork are fundamental. "The priority is to maintain good performance and achieve results that make the national team recognized globally, rather than focusing solely on individual names," he explained.
The new coach also addressed the importance of Moroccan fans, whom he described as the most dedicated followers in the world. "We have 40 million supporters; even those who don't love football follow the national team. Therefore, my goal is to make all Moroccans proud of their national team, embodying values of hard work, humility, determination, and patriotism."
Wahbi concluded his statement by saying, "Everything I do from now on will be driven by love for the nation, placing Morocco above all else. When we feel that everyone is proud of us, we will have achieved our goals."
