Moroccan Federation Appoints Mohamed Wahbi as National Team Coach, Confirming Previous Reports Despite Denials
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation announced this Thursday evening the appointment of Mohamed Wahbi as the new coach of the Moroccan senior national team, succeeding Walid Regragui.
This appointment comes despite the Royal Moroccan Football Federation having previously issued a statement denying it had contracted a new coach for the national team. This denial followed reports circulating about an agreement being reached with Mohamed Wahbi to lead the technical staff.
Al-Botola newspaper was the first, more than a week ago, to publish news of the Federation's agreement with Mohamed Wahbi to coach the Moroccan national team, prior to the Federation's denial statement. His official appointment was then announced this Thursday evening.
The decision to appoint Wahbi came hours after Walid Regragui posted a farewell message to the Moroccan national team on his official social media accounts. The message was accompanied by a video clip documenting the most significant moments he experienced with the "Atlas Lions," particularly during the team's participation in the 2022 FIFA World Cup finals in Qatar.
