Bayern Munich to Miss Harry Kane Against Monchengladbach Due to Calf Injury
Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany has confirmed that English striker Harry Kane will miss the team's upcoming Bundesliga match against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Kane sustained a calf injury, rendering him unavailable for the fixture scheduled for Friday at the Bavarian club's home ground.
Kompany clarified in statements made on Thursday that the league's top scorer's injury is not serious. The Bayern Munich coach stated, "He took a knock to the calf and hasn't fully recovered yet." He added that the England international might only need an extra day to return, saying, "It's just a bruise, nothing serious for the near future, but we might miss him for one day before he's able to play."
This absence comes as Kane aims to break Robert Lewandowski's record of 41 goals in a single Bundesliga season. The current striker has scored 30 goals in 24 matches, with 10 rounds remaining in the competition. Meanwhile, the Bavarian club hopes to extend its lead to 14 points, despite also missing defenders Hiroki Ito and Alphonso Davies.
Regarding continental participation, the Belgian coach dismissed any concerns about his star player missing the team's trip to face Atalanta in the Champions League next week. He affirmed that the player's health condition allows for optimism regarding his participation in the anticipated European clash in Italy.
