FIFA Delegation to Visit Spain Next Week to Assess 2030 World Cup Stadium Readiness
Media sources have reported that a delegation from the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) will visit Spain starting next week to assess the readiness of potential stadiums for hosting the 2030 World Cup.
Radio network Cadena SER confirmed that the visit will commence on March 9 and run until March 20, concluding the tour in the city of San Sebastian.
The visit aims to expedite administrative procedures and necessary investments to ensure the readiness of eleven potential host cities, or even to expand this number, rather than waiting until after the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, as was previously planned.
The delegation will also evaluate the technical, legal, and administrative requirements for the stadiums, verify the readiness of projects and investments, and prevent any delays that could hinder some cities from completing their work on schedule.
FIFA is expected to announce the official host cities and stadiums for the 2030 World Cup in Spain, Morocco, and Portugal next December, with the possibility of modifying the list or adding new cities like Valencia and Vigo if they meet the required conditions.
