Ancelotti's Son Returns to Bolster Brazil's Coaching Staff Ahead of 2026 World Cup
David Ancelotti has rejoined the technical staff of the Brazilian national team, resuming his role as assistant coach alongside his father, Carlo Ancelotti. This move follows a brief period as head coach of Botafogo.
The 36-year-old Ancelotti will return to the Seleção's coaching bench during the preparatory camp for the 2026 World Cup warm-up matches, scheduled between June 11 and July 19.
The son of the former Real Madrid coach is expected to be present for two friendly matches scheduled in the United States at the end of March. Brazil will face France on March 26 in Boston, and then play Croatia on March 31 in Orlando.
David had previously left his assistant coach position with the Brazilian national team last July to take on the head coaching role at Botafogo, marking his first experience as a primary coach.
David also had a brief stint as a midfielder with AC Milan before being loaned to the obscure club Borgomanero in the late 2000s. However, he retired early to pursue a career in coaching and technical work.
It is worth noting that the Brazilian national team is in Group C of the 2026 World Cup, alongside Morocco, Haiti, and Scotland.
