Jordan (South Africa FA President): 'FIFA Sanctioning US? No, I Won't Answer... I'm Here With You, Not in the Middle East'
South African Football Association President Danny Jordaan has refused to comment on growing calls within his country to pressure FIFA into sanctioning the United States over the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Local journalists questioned the South African official about the possibility of his country demanding the suspension of the US's membership within FIFA, drawing parallels to the international body's action against Russia following its war on Ukraine.
Jordaan told the South African newspaper "Sowetan": "FIFA sanctioning America? No, I will not answer that question. I am here with you, and I am not in the Middle East. Let me inquire about FIFA's position."
He further added: "The World Cup is not organized by us; it is a FIFA event. Today is Monday, and I am here among you. I don't know what is happening. I need to speak with FIFA and CAF."
