The New York/New Jersey World Cup Organizing Committee has announced the cancellation of the fan festival previously scheduled to take place at Liberty State Park in Jersey City. This festival, which was announced in February 2025, aimed to host fans throughout the 104 matches of the tournament, starting June 11.

Instead, the committee stated that an "expanded network of fan zones and community celebrations across New Jersey's 21 counties" will now serve as the official fan engagement program for the region. Tickets for the canceled fan festival had gone on sale last December.

The canceled festival was to be held approximately 24 kilometers from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, which will host the final match on July 19. Additionally, a fan festival is planned for the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens from June 17-28, along with a fan village at Rockefeller Center in Manhattan from July 4-19.

New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill also announced a $5 million initiative to fund World Cup-specific community programs. These steps are part of the state's efforts to ensure broad public participation in the tournament's events.
