Belamri Tipped for Starting Role with Al Ahly Against FAR Rabat in Cairo Showdown
Al Ahly's left-back, Youssef Belamri, is now a strong candidate to secure a place in the starting lineup for his team against FAR Rabat tomorrow, Sunday. This crucial match marks the conclusion of the CAF Champions League group stage, following Belamri's recent appearance as a substitute in the last domestic league game against Ismaily.
The technical staff, led by Danish coach Jess Thorup, is currently weighing options between Belamri and his teammate Mohamed Shokry to determine who will start. This decision comes particularly after Ahmed Nabil Kouka was solidified in a midfield role instead of playing on the left flank.
Thorup is scheduled to hold a meeting with his assistants in the coming hours to finalize the squad, with a particular focus on Belamri's position. Belamri recently joined Al Ahly from Raja Casablanca during the last winter transfer window.
Al Ahly will host FAR Rabat tomorrow, Sunday, starting at 4 PM, at the Cairo International Stadium. The Egyptian team currently leads Group B with 9 points, followed by FAR Rabat with 8 points, Young Africans with 5 points, and JS Kabylie with 3 points. This encounter could determine the group winner before the knockout stages commence.
