El Karouani: Saudi League a Possibility, But Big European Clubs Also Interested
Moroccan international Souffian El Karouani, a player for Dutch club FC Utrecht, has broken his silence regarding his professional future, putting an end to a wave of speculation that has circulated in recent days, particularly concerning a potential move to the Saudi League.
In a statement to "Voetbal International" magazine, El Karouani confirmed that he prefers not to delve into precise details, noting that the recent period has been full of developments and overlapping options.
The Moroccan left-back stated: "Currently, I am an FC Utrecht player until the end of the season, and I will give my all on the pitch. I aim to decide my future within the next two weeks, as I want to clearly know my situation before the start of next season."
Regarding reports of him officially signing with a Saudi club, El Karouani denied the accuracy of this information, emphasizing that he has not yet decided his destination. He said in this regard: "I am well aware of the options available to me. The Saudi League could be a possibility, but there are also big and distinguished European clubs that have shown interest in my services. For me, it's not about choosing between money and football; I am capable of continuing my career in Europe without any constraints."
Earlier, "Foot Mercato" had reported that El Karouani signed a contract with Saudi club Al-Qadsiah, which currently sits fourth with 44 points in the Roshn League, with the player set to join the team starting June 2026 after the expiration of his contract with Utrecht.
It is worth noting that El Karouani has scored 3 goals and provided 15 assists in 35 appearances for Utrecht this season across all competitions.
