FAR players expressed their strong desire to achieve victory in their upcoming match against Egyptian giants Al Ahly, in the final round of the CAF Champions League group stage.

Marouane El Ouardani stated in press remarks after the 1-0 victory over Young Africans: “We had hoped to secure qualification here and win by two goals, but we will fight for our chances until the last moment. We will go to Egypt to achieve victory.”

For his part, Rabie Hrimat explained: “The most important thing was to win this match. We were in third place, and it was crucial to secure the three points. We will build on this victory in the next game, and we promise the fans a performance worthy of the FAR team.”

Youssef El Fahli added: “It’s not easy to be drawn into a tough group. What affects us is playing without our fans, as they play a significant role in African competitions. We wanted to secure qualification from this match. Al Ahly is a difficult team, but with FAR’s African experience and its highly experienced players, we will return with qualification from Egypt.”

He continued: “There were also some refereeing decisions; if Ahmed Hamoudan’s goal in the first leg had been allowed, we would have qualified by now. Additionally, playing three matches 'behind closed doors' (wiklo) has been too much for us. Despite all these circumstances, I thank the players for their fighting spirit.”

Why do AS FAR players believe refereeing decisions impacted their Champions League journey?

Youssef El Fahli stated that Ahmed Hamoudan's disallowed goal in the first leg was crucial. He believes its approval would have already secured AS FAR's qualification.
