Ronaldo Ends 'Rebellion' Against Al-Nassr Management, Returns to Training Ahead of Al-Ittihad Clash
Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Al-Nassr club training today, Wednesday, in preparation for the summit match against Al-Ittihad this coming Friday (18:30 GMT+1).
Ronaldo participated in the training session after days of absence from team training and his absence from Al-Nassr's match against Al-Riyadh in the previous round.
Local and international media reported last weekend that Ronaldo had refused to play in Al-Nassr's match against Al-Riyadh. This was reportedly due to his protest against the club's management and the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF)'s handling of the team's transfers in the winter market, especially when compared to rivals like Al-Hilal and the significant deals executed by other clubs.
Numerous reports indicated that Ronaldo's protest was not for technical or physical reasons, but rather part of what resembled a protest “rebellion” against the club's management due to what was considered insufficient reinforcements during the transfer window. This reportedly led him to not participate and partially boycott previous training sessions.
According to press reports, senior officials in Saudi football intervened in recent hours and contacted Ronaldo to urge him to end his boycott of matches and training, emphasizing to him the team's importance and the necessity of his presence against Al-Ittihad in the summit match.
