Dembélé Wins Globe Soccer Award, Ronaldo Named Best in Middle East
Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembélé was crowned the Globe Soccer Best Player in the World for 2025, recognizing his exceptional season during a ceremony held last Sunday in Dubai. Meanwhile, Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, of Saudi club Al-Nassr, received the award for Best Player in the Middle East.
Dembélé's triumph was widely anticipated after he spearheaded Paris Saint-Germain to a historic sextuple, which included the UEFA Champions League title for the first time in the club's history, alongside the domestic league, cup, and Super Cup.
For his part, 40-year-old Ronaldo ascended the podium for the second consecutive year. He confirmed that his next objective is to score his 1000th career goal, having increased his tally to 956 after netting a brace for Al-Nassr against Al-Okhdood in the Saudi League. He stated, "I still have great passion for football, and my ambition is to achieve more titles and reach the 1000-goal mark."
Paris Saint-Germain claimed the lion's share of the awards, a testament to their sextuple. The club was named Best Club, Spain's Luis Enrique received the Best Coach award, and France's Désiré Doué was recognized as the Best Young Player. Additionally, Portugal's Vitinha won Best Midfielder, and Qatar's Nasser Al-Khelaifi was honored as Best Club President.
Barcelona also secured a significant number of accolades. Lamine Yamal, 18, was named Best Forward and received the Diego Maradona Young Talent Award. The club also won Best Women's Club, and Spain's Aitana Bonmatí was crowned Best Female Player for the third consecutive year.
Furthermore, Portugal's Jorge Mendes was named Best Player Agent, and his compatriot Luís Castro (PSG) received the Best Club Director award. Spain's Andrés Iniesta and Japan's Hidetoshi Nakata were honored with the Career Award, while France's Paul Pogba (Monaco) secured the Best Comeback award.
