
CAF Confederation Cup: Wydad AC Falls Away to Maniema (2-1) But Maintains Top Spot
Wydad AC suffered their first defeat in the CAF Confederation Cup, losing 2-1 to Congolese side Maniema Union in the fourth round of the group stage.
The Moroccan club conceded the opening goal in the 33rd minute, scored by Namboka, amidst hot conditions and 71% humidity on an artificial pitch.
After the break, the Congolese team extended their lead in the 61st minute when goalkeeper Mehdi Benabid scored an own goal. Hamza Hanouri then pulled one back for Wydad in the 66th minute.
Despite the loss, Wydad AC maintained their position at the top of Group B with 9 points, level with second-placed Maniema.
