Two and a Half Months After Zemmouri's Accusations Against Redouane Jiyed, Professional League Remains Silent on Integrity
Two and a half months have passed since the serious statements made by national coach Abdelwahed Zemmouri, manager of Ittihad Touarga. Zemmouri spoke of "external interventions" that influenced referees' decisions during his team's matches in the professional league, yet no official measures have been taken by the Professional League.
Zemmouri, who resigned following his team's 2-1 loss to Renaissance Zemamra, had sparked significant controversy by asserting that Redouane Jiyed, the Director of the Refereeing Directorate, interferes with VAR room decisions during matches. Zemmouri described this as "threatening the integrity of the competition."
Curiously, Zemmouri has since returned to manage Ittihad Touarga, while Redouane Jiyed continues to head the refereeing department. This situation persists despite the extended period passing without any official decisions or clarifications from the League, raising questions about the system's ability to address violations and ensure integrity in the professional league.
