
Mamadou Sarr (Senegal Player) on AFCON Final Standoff: "Officials Spoke With Us"
Senegal national team player, Mamadou Sarr, revealed details surrounding his team's withdrawal from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final against Morocco.
In post-match press statements, Mamadou Sarr said: "I don't think we've fully grasped what happened yet, and I still can't quite comprehend it, but we are very happy."
He added: "We were very frustrated. I think we had a collective reaction, and we told ourselves that this was not possible."
He concluded: "We went back inside and talked, and we said we had to return. The officials spoke, and indeed, this perhaps motivated us to come back."
The Senegalese national team was crowned champions of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after defeating the Moroccan national team with a single goal, scored in the 94th minute of the first half of extra time by player Pape Gueye.
