Yassine Bounou Wins Best Goalkeeper Award at AFCON 2025
Yassine Bounou was crowned the best goalkeeper at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, following his consistent performances that helped the Moroccan national team reach the final match.
This accolade came as a result of Bounou's strong presence throughout various stages of the competition. From the group stage, he successfully kept several clean sheets and made crucial interventions that prevented certain goals.
Bounou's role became even more prominent in the knockout stages, particularly in the semi-final match where his brilliance in the penalty shootout was a direct reason for Morocco advancing to the final. This performance continued in the final against Senegal, where he saved his goal from numerous attempts.
Despite losing the continental title to Senegal, Bounou was awarded this prize in recognition of his individual level. He concluded the tournament as one of the most prominent players who delivered consistent technical performances from the first round until the final match.
