Roma Overcomes Torino to Reclaim Fourth Spot in Serie A
AS Roma secured a crucial 2-0 victory over hosts Torino in a Serie A Matchday 21 fixture. This win not only avenged Roma's recent Coppa Italia loss to Torino but also allowed them to reclaim fourth place in the league standings.
The match marked the debut of 26-year-old Dutch forward Donyell Malen, who joined Roma from Aston Villa seeking more playing time ahead of the World Cup. Malen found the back of the net in the 27th minute, assisted by teammate Paulo Dybala, after an earlier goal in the 23rd minute was disallowed for offside.
Paulo Dybala extended Roma's lead in the 73rd minute, scoring the second goal of the match following a decisive pass from Devyne Rensch. Lorenzo Pellegrini started the game for Roma.
The game also saw Robinho Vaz make his first appearance for Roma, coming on as a substitute for Malen late in the match. On the other side, Torino suffered two injuries, with both Hermoso and Pedersen being forced off. With this victory, Roma widened their gap over Juventus to three points in the race for the top spots.
