Sadio Mané Confirms Last AFCON Final Against Morocco, Senegal Coach Comments: "We Still Need Him for Years to Come"
Senegal national team player Sadio Mané expressed his happiness at qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, confirming it would be the last of his career.
Mané said in the press conference following the 1-0 victory over Egypt: "We know how to play a final. As we always say, a final is to be won. I will be very happy to play in my last AFCON final, and I will try to enjoy this experience and make my country happy."
On his part, Teranga Lions coach Pape Thiaw affirmed during the press conference after the Egypt match that the team still needs Mané, and his presence constitutes great value for Senegal. He stated: "Sadio Mané said that Sunday's final will be his last in the AFCON? All I know is that we need him, and Senegal needs him."
He added: "I believe he proved that again tonight against Egypt. We hope to enjoy many more years with him, because a player like Sadio Mané doesn't come around often. We must benefit from his presence. And I hope this isn't his last final, as there are future tournaments."
It is worth noting that the Senegalese national team will face Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations final next Sunday, at 8:00 PM.
