Chelsea to Host Arsenal in League Cup Semi-Final Amid Injury Challenges
Chelsea are preparing to host Arsenal in the League Cup semi-final this week. This match marks Chelsea's first home fixture in the 2025-2026 edition of the competition, having previously secured victories against Cardiff City, Lincoln City, and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Manager Liam Rosenior, who took over from Enzo Maresca, faces a lengthy injury list that could impact his tactical options. Romeo Lavia is a major doubt due to a muscle problem sustained in a previous match against Qarabag last November.
Levi Colwill will also miss the remainder of the season due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury, while Malo Gusto's participation is uncertain despite being rested for the match against Fulham. Captain Reece James is also questionable after missing the 5-1 FA Cup victory over Charlton Athletic, having sustained a knock at Craven Cottage.
In a statement, manager Rosenior said: “I feel like I’ve got a very good squad here. I don’t need to risk their health right now. We’ve got a massive game on Wednesday, we’ve got a massive game on Saturday, and I’ll check the medical reports tonight and tomorrow morning to see where we’re at.”
