Gamondi: 'Morocco Was the Best Version I've Ever Seen'

Miguel Gamondi, head coach of the Tanzanian national team, praised the quality of football and organization at the Africa Cup of Nations, affirming that the tournament reflects the significant development of African football. He also expressed satisfaction with his team's performance during the competition.

In statements to Egyptian channel "On Sport," Gamondi said: "This tournament is very good, and I am speaking here in terms of football and organization. Africa is growing and developing in terms of football, and the level of matches is very good. Perhaps this cup was the best I've seen in my life."

He added: "The Tanzanian national team is a good team, and we know our ranking. We performed very well against Nigeria, Tunisia, and Uganda. I believe we played well in the group stage and fought until the last moment in the tournament."

Gamondi continued: "We had a very good tactical approach, and we tried to attack and play. The truth is, I am happy with the level we showed."

He went on to say: "It is very clear that the semi-finals include the four best teams, and the opportunity is open for all four. I believe that at this stage of the tournament, it's all about small details and the quality of the players available."

He concluded his remarks by stating: "Each of the four teams has a player who can make a difference with a single play. Currently, I see Nigeria as the most impactful because they score many goals and haven't conceded many. They seem very strong, but as I said, I see them as the four strongest teams in Africa right now."

Tanzania exited the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations at the Round of 16 stage after a decisive second-half goal from Brahim Díaz secured a victory for the Moroccan national team.
