El Khannouss: 'I Wasn't Born During Morocco's Last AFCON Semifinal, Proud to Qualify'
Moroccan national team player Bilal El Khannouss expressed his pride in the "Atlas Lions'" qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals, emphasizing that the team played with high collective spirit and the character of a big team.
Following their 2-0 victory over Cameroon, El Khannouss stated: "We played like a big team; when we had to defend, we defended, and when we had to keep possession, we did so. We followed the coach's instructions, and that made all the difference."
The Moroccan midfielder further expressed his immense pride in this achievement, saying: "I wasn't even born the last time Morocco reached an AFCON semi-final, and this is a great source of pride for me, but we are not content with just reaching this stage."
El Khannouss emphasized that the team's ambition extends beyond the semi-finals, especially with the tournament being held on Moroccan soil. He stated: "We are playing on our home ground, and we want to dedicate this title to our people and our country. So, God willing, we will continue to work hard and prepare for the next match."
