Brahim Diaz Becomes Fifth Player to Score in 5 Matches in a Single AFCON Edition
Moroccan player Brahim Diaz continues to etch his name in the record books during his participation in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, following his goal against Cameroon in a 2-0 quarter-final victory.
Diaz achieved a historic feat, becoming only the fifth player in Africa Cup of Nations history to score in five consecutive matches within a single edition. He joins an elite group that includes Vincent Aboubakar (Cameroon 2022), Mohamed Geddo (Egypt 2010), and Ndaye Mulamba (DR Congo 1974).
Diaz also set an unprecedented Moroccan record, becoming the first player from his country to score in five consecutive matches in a single Africa Cup of Nations tournament. This achievement underscores his importance as one of the key attacking assets relied upon by national coach Walid Regragui.
With five goals to his name, Diaz is now just one goal shy of equaling the legendary Ahmed Faras's record of six goals for the Moroccan national team in the Africa Cup of Nations finals.
