AFCON 2025: Ivory Coast Overturns Deficit to Beat Gabon (3-2), Tops Group Stage

Ivory Coast came from behind to secure a 3-2 victory over Gabon on Wednesday evening at the Grand Stade de Marrakech. The match was part of the third and final round of the Africa Cup of Nations group stage.

Gabon's squad took an early lead in the 11th minute through Guelor Kanga. Denis Bouanga then doubled their advantage, scoring the second goal around the 21st minute. However, Ivory Coast managed to pull one back before halftime, with Jean-Philippe Krasso finding the net in the 44th minute.

After the interval, Ivory Coast pushed for an equalizer, which they eventually secured in the 84th minute thanks to Evan Guessand.

This result sees Ivory Coast finish the group stage at the top of the standings with 7 points. Cameroon also secured 7 points, finishing in second place, while Mozambique came in third with 3 points. Gabon finished at the bottom of the group without any points.
