Regragui: Comoros Win a Good Start to AFCON Campaign
Walid Regragui, coach of the Moroccan national team, discussed the significance of their victory over Comoros in the opening match of the Africa Cup of Nations.
In a televised statement, Regragui said: "Entering a competition is never easy, and opening matches are always difficult. Perhaps we didn't create many clear scoring opportunities, but with the changes we made in the second half and the intensity we displayed, we knew that chances would eventually come, and that's precisely what happened."
He added: "We managed to score the first goal, then the second, and we controlled the game. This is a good start, and it was crucial to secure a win in our first match in front of our fans to properly kick off our tournament campaign."
The Moroccan national team is set to face Mali next Friday, with kick-off scheduled for 9:00 PM (21:00 GMT +1). This match, part of the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations group stage, will take place at the Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
