Trezeguet: 'Focus on Zimbabwe, Aim to Win Africa Cup'

Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, a player for the Egyptian national team, affirmed that "the Pharaohs" are fully prepared to face Zimbabwe in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. He emphasized that the opening match is a crucial step towards achieving a successful start in the continental tournament.

During the pre-match press conference, Trezeguet stated: "The players are well-prepared, and the technical staff has done a great job with us recently. We understand the importance of every match, and our current focus is entirely on the Zimbabwe game."

He added: "I have participated in the Africa Cup of Nations four times before, and the upcoming edition will be the fifth in my international career, but I haven't won the title yet. I feel we have a real chance this time, and it's not normal for a player to end his international career without winning a continental title."

He continued: "We reached the final in both the 2017 and 2021 editions without winning, but we are not looking to the past as much as we are focusing on the present. Winning against Zimbabwe is the first step towards our bigger goal, which is to win the tournament."

Trezeguet concluded his remarks by saying: "I urge people not to underestimate the value of Egyptian football and the Egyptian national team. We possess a great history and a legitimate ambition to return to the African podium."
