Hicham Aboucherouane: "Morocco, Egypt, and Senegal are Top AFCON Contenders"

Former Moroccan international Hicham Aboucherouane stated that the "Atlas Lions" are among the leading contenders to win the Africa Cup of Nations title. He also acknowledged the strength of other participating teams, particularly Egypt, who hold the record for the most AFCON victories.

Speaking to "Al-Nazer" program on Al-Nahar TV, Aboucherouane said: "Morocco, Egypt, and Senegal are, in my opinion, among the teams with the highest chances of competing for the title, especially the Egyptian national team, who hold the record in the competition."

Regarding Achraf Hakimi, he added: "Hakimi's return comes at the right time, as he is the captain of the national team, and players feel comfortable playing alongside him. Despite the possibility of him missing the initial matches, he will play minutes to regain his full fitness."

Aboucherouane continued: "Major tournaments always bring some surprises. The Congolese national team has strong chances to qualify and make their mark in the competition, and they might even be close to qualifying for the World Cup."
